FAO offers free virtual course on soil and water conservation

October 30, 2026

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has launched a 36-hour free virtual course on soil and water conservation techniques for rural communities and agricultural producers.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in collaboration with the AGRIADAPTA project, is offering a free virtual course titled "Obras de conservación de suelos y agua" (Soil and water conservation works). The course is available on the FAO Campus platform with open enrollment and no specified deadline.

Delivered in Spanish as a self-paced program, the 36-hour course is designed for producer families, rural communities, and training monitors. The curriculum covers practical techniques such as using an A-frame level to trace contour lines, implementing ditches and channels to improve water infiltration, and utilizing living and dead barriers to prevent erosion. The initiative aims to help preserve soil fertility and improve water management, contributing to the development and sustainability of rural areas in Bogotá.
